This Catholic radio station will be providing
a positive media voice to promote our faith throughout the Papal Visit.
Preparation for the launch of this station is rapidly gathering momentum and
listeners will have a choice of a fantastic mix of programmes – young Catholics
(and some not so young) all over the country are working hard to make this
station really wonderful.
The project has snowballed because of the Pope’s visit! The station should
appeal to audiences of all ages and interests. But people will only listen if
they know about it! We have some truly
wonderful programmes to broadcast! Masses each day; daily prayers and readings;
daily coverage of the Papal Visit; a discussion to round-up the day’s events with
priests, heads of schools and others; features on pilgrimages to Rome, Lourdes,
Taize, Oberammergau and the Holy Land; priests and laity talking about their
‘calling’; Father Stan Fortuna explaining ‘The Mass’; Catholic celebrity
interviews; Poets’ Corner; a multi-faith student discussion (chaired by Bishop
Hendricks); and much, much more. And music – lots of Catholic music from
choirs, to bands, to singers, to musicians - in many different styles. We can’t
wait to ‘go live’ to share it all – we already have a song about Pope Benedict
on the site!
This radio is just part of a project to showcase the amazing talent in our
young Catholics – please do all you can to support it! This is a community
Catholic Youth Project and we want as many young people
involved as possible.
This Catholic radio station will broadcast between 7am – midnight, Tuesday 14th
to Monday 20th September 2010 to cover the Pope’s visit. The station will
broadcast programmes on a range of topics designed to appeal to a wide audience
(see website for full information). It will include daily prayers and masses,
as well as topical subjects including some live coverage of the Papal Visit.
There will also be lots of music from Catholic bands, singers & choirs.
Please look on the website for a full schedule of the broadcasts – you’ll be
surprised at the variety available – just another example of the imagination
and enthusiasm of our young people. There are also
competitions for music makers and photo/videos and you can vote for your
favourite hymn.
