NEW  WAYS  of  RECONCILIATION

Our Pastoral Area Working Group (PAWG) is proud to host a series of 3 talks by Fr John McLoughlin

entitled: “Called to be a People of Reconciliation”

The changes in the Sacraments of Initiation for children, and the marked decline in adults using the Sacrament of Reconciliation, are good signs that it is time to renew our outlook on what we mean by God’s Forgiveness, how can we adapt this gift to the needs of Catholics today, what does the Vatican Council teach about this sacrament?

Fr McLoughlin is the Archdiocesan leader of Adult Formation and Learning, and a very interesting and entertaining speaker. He explores reconciliation as being the work of God firmly rooted in the mission of Christ, and by Christ’s authority and mandate continued by the Church in her mission to the world.

Reconciliation truly is a sacrament for our time!

TUESDAYS   7th, 14th, 21st,   FEBRUARY

at the Catechetical Centre, St Richard’s Skelmersdale.

First Talk - Jesus the Healing of God

The first talk explores Jesus’ mission to bring God’s healing, God’s hospitality to the world as understood from St Luke’s Gospel

Second Talk - The Church For Sinners

This second talk of the series examines the development of the Church’s understanding of reconciliation, forgiveness and mercy throughout the history of the Church.

Third Talk - Reconciliation: A Sacrament for our Time

This third talk brings the series to an end by highlighting the need for reconciliation in the context of our western culture and outlining the Church’s understanding of freedom, conscience, sin and reconciliation today.

Children’s  Church

The PAWG voted to hold another Open Air Mass with Children's Liturgy Groups from all parishes in the Pastoral Area.

It was thought a good thing to focus particularly on this special event for children of year 3, whose communion will be delayed until next year in the new "With You Always" changes.

Volunteering makes this possible, as so much else in our church, Christine Southworth, led the team on the last one which was held two years ago. Christine has volunteered to start off the planning this time. Ideas and offers of help to Ginny at the PAWG office please, or to Christine at St Teresa's.
